Start Your Aerial Journey—
With a Clear Path
Aerial acrobatics isn’t about being a certain size, age, or background—it’s about consistency, coaching, and mindset.
At The Fix Aerial Arts, Yoga & Fitness, Intro to Aerial Arts is a true aerial acrobatics foundation class. While not everyone will choose to pursue advanced aerial performance, students of many ages, body types, and experience levels successfully begin here.
We successfully coach:
-
Children, teens, and adults in their 20s through 50s
-
Students of all body sizes
-
Athletes and dancers from other disciplines
-
Students with zero background in sports or performing arts
What makes the biggest difference is how consistently you show up and how willing you are to learn.
This page will show you exactly how our beginner pathway works, what’s expected, and how to start with confidence and clarity.
First Things First: Is Intro to Aerial Arts Right for You?
Intro to Aerial Arts is designed for students who are willing to learn step by step and practice consistently.
You don’t need:
-
Prior aerial experience
-
A dance, gymnastics, or fitness background
-
A certain level of strength or flexibility to start
You do need curiosity, patience, and a willingness to show up.
Classes are structured, progressive, and coached closely. You’ll never be thrown into skills you’re not ready for.
Where Should New Students Start?
All new students begin with Intro to Aerial Arts.
This is your foundation class—and it’s the most important step in your aerial journey.
In Intro to Aerial Arts, you’ll learn:
-
Fundamental aerial shapes and positions
-
How to engage your core and upper body correctly
-
Conditioning drills that build real aerial strength
-
Basic skills that all higher-level aerial technique is built on
Nothing in advanced aerial classes exists without these foundations. This is where strong, confident aerialists are made.

Your Path to Becoming an Aerialist
Aerial is a skill-based practice. Your body and brain need repetition to learn it.
That’s why we guide students through a clear, progressive path instead of rushing ahead.

Phase 1: Foundations (Intro to Aerial Arts)
We recommend:
2–4 Intro to Aerial Arts classes per week For 6–8 weeks
This timeframe allows your body to:
-
Build the conditioning required to lift and support yourself
-
Create neurological pathways (muscle memory)
-
Learn skills in the correct order so nothing feels confusing or forced
Students are encouraged to space classes no more than 3 days apart for efficient learning and progress.
During this phase, you’ll receive a skill map outlining the exact shapes and skills you’re working toward. You’ll check them off as you go—so you can clearly see your progress and build confidence every step of the way.

Phase 2: Level 2 & Apparatus Focus
Once you’ve built your foundation, you’ll be ready to move into Level 2 classes, where you’ll begin learning more technical skills on your preferred apparatus: hammock, lyra or split silks.
Because your foundation is solid, Level 2 feels exciting—not overwhelming.

How Often Should You Attend Class?
For best results, follow the foundation schedule outlined above:
-
2–4 Intro to Aerial Arts classes per week
-
Classes spaced no more than 3 days apart
This frequency supports faster skill retention, strength development, and nervous system adaptation—so progress feels steady instead of frustrating.
Consistency—not intensity—is what builds aerial confidence.

What Should You Do Between Classes to Progress Faster?
You don’t need to train for hours—but a little intention goes a long way.
Between classes, we recommend:
-
Light stretching (especially shoulders, hips, and spine)
-
Gentle core engagement (planks, dead bugs, hollow body holds, Pilates-style work)
-
Adequate hydration and protein to support recovery and strength development
-
Prioritizing sleep and recovery
Even 10–15 minutes on non-class days can significantly improve how strong and capable you feel in class.
How to Use the Intro Offer to Start Strong
Our New Student Intro Offer (8 classes in 4 weeks) is designed to support your foundation phase.
How to use it effectively:
-
Attend at least 2 classes per week
-
Use classes toward Intro to Aerial Arts
-
Space classes evenly (every 2–3 days)
This creates momentum, builds strength safely, and helps you retain what you learn from class to class.
After completing the intro offer, most students continue with Intro to Aerial Arts until they’ve completed their skill map and are ready for Level 2.

Common Questions We Hear
“What if I’m not strong enough?”
You build strength in class. No prerequisite required.

“What if I’m not flexible?”
Flexibility improves naturally with practice. Mobility is intentionally built into warm-ups and cool-downs.

“Will I get dizzy being upside down?”
Inversions are always optional and introduced gradually. Most students build tolerance quickly.

“What should I wear?”
Fitted leggings and a top that covers your underarms and knees. No zippers, claw clips, or jewelry.

“Am I too old to start?”
We regularly teach students in their 40s and 50s. Our founder is in her 40s. Progress is based on consistency, mindset, and proper foundations—not age.

“How much weight can the rigging and apparatus support?”
Our rigging and apparatus' are professionally engineered, installed, and rated for dynamic load. Each point and apparatus supports 800+ lbs safely. Safety is a top priority, and all equipment exceeds industry standards.
